n64 portable question topic

It might be that you don't need it. Try connecting the right-audio to right before the resistor, and see what happens. Might be weirdly loud or something, but that's easy enough to remedy.

thank you for all your help. as it turns out, i don't think the audio is fixable. i cut a small section from an old n64 board, same rev, and wired it through that, and still nothing. so i guess something else was damaged. how safe is it to try my other idea, the one where i'm thinking about bridging those two pins?

The pins on the cart slot are inputs to the audio mux, not outputs.

You can try carefully probing the pins on the AMP-NUS chip on the right side, follow the R audio trace back until you can solder to it again.
