Starting an Xbox project, what to do?
Moderator:Moderators
Hi, this is my first topic here (I'm sort of new to this type of thing). I have been monitoring this since late 2009, but have been on and off. Anyway, I am waiting after E3 to see if MS is doing anything to do with game consoles (like bring a new model next year or something), and if all is well (they don't) I'd go on with my plan. Basically, I'd like to find out what is the best option to do. I don't care for the headset much, so I'm wondering which is better, 250 GB XB or 4 GB XB with 250 GB HDD. I'm also unsure what type of screen I should use, and what type of case I should build, or really anything.
Thank you,
AnonMac

if you want to do some case mods the 4gb is better because it has a matt finish
if you want to do a laptop mod or similar, it doesn't matter as you will recase it.

Cool, I want a portable mod. I'd also like to be able to connect it to the TV when I want (not just the small screen). Also, I'd also like to be able to use headphones.
What kind of screen should I use?

ok, so any console will do, as your not using the case.
you should look into pc monitors as they have the easiest inputs etc. to work with.

Re: Starting an Xbox project, what to do?
i made an xbox laptop and i used a 17 inch hanns-g screen. Its a really nice screen that accepts a vga connection from the xbox. It does 720p hd and you just need a few adapter to plug in headphones. The screen cost me £80 a year ago, i think its about £50 now. Some newer screens accept dvi, which tends to be better, so get that one of possible as you will be able to do a hdmi to dvi connection to your screen.

Re: Starting an Xbox project, what to do?
I just soldered some wires underneath the xbox motherboard where the power socket is for 12v and 5v lines straight to my inverter board and screen controller board, simple.

Re: Starting an Xbox project, what to do?
yes - all you need to do is plug in a composite/av cable to the av port of the xbox, and go to console settings, sound, and select it to come out through the analogue av cable.
