Colecovision mods?

Post by thewizdawg » Sun Mar 13, 2011 5:58 am

I like my Colecovision but hate the bulky power supply and clunky controller. I've seen on your website that you created a portable Colecovision. How about modding the Colecovision to use an internal power supply and re-designing the controller?

I think the Colecovision was great back in the day, but the controllers were horrible. Can you design a new brand new one? I would think it might possibly end up looking more like a Jaguar controller. Just a thought.

Correct me if I am wrong but the Standard Coleco controller consists of the following:
  • 4 direction joystick
  • 12 key pad
  • 2 action buttons
    • Arm
    • Fire
  • Spinner
    • Left
    • Right
edit: I cannot find a logic description for the ColecoVision Super Action Controller
  • 8 direction joystick
  • 12 key pad
  • 4 action buttons
    • Yellow
    • Red
    • Purple
    • Blue
  • Spinner
    • Left
    • Right
edit^2: false alarm, found it, designing circuit now...

edit^3: man... this thing has 30 diodes, maybe if I use a priority encoder...
