Sharp Nintendo Television(Video)

Post by hellfire » Fri Apr 08, 2011 2:49 pm

i got one of these earlier from a friend.. it's black and maybe a 19in.. it's missing what looks like a front cover on the bottom nintendo part, and the tv power button is missing. i haven't tested it yet, so no clue if it works.
i was thinking of trying to fix it up.. anyone here know what one of these might be worth when working? are the parts real hard to find? is there a manual out there somewhere?
i'm about to go clean it and take some pictures.. i'll post them here when i'm done.

The internals are fairly similar to the regular "toaster" style NES. The TV part is just your average CRT TV.

after i cleaned it a little, i plugged it in.. the tv turned on with static white/black.. and when i hit the power button on the nes part the screen flashed back and forth between white and grey.
i dont have a cart to test it right now.. gonna go snag one in a day or so.

well.. i went to the gamestore real quick to grab a cart and controller because i was going crazy wondering if it worked.. so i pugged it up again, tossed the cart in, and then the damn thing fired right up... i'm gonna clean it up real good tomorrow with a tooth brush. hopefully i can find a cover and a way to put in some new buttons.

I can't remember where I read this but apparently these things were used for (some) magazines for screenshots as they offered a better connection to the television compared to regular RCA cables. So maybe it's worth a pretty penny. Did you cut the holes in the front or did it come like that?

PS: I have second dibs on it.

came that way.. looks to me like the contacts got dirty and they didn't want to open it up to clean them.. so they gutted the buttons. they still work though. the tv's tint, contrast, etc still work too.
when i told the guys at the gamestore what i had, they about crap themselves.. they are wanting me to sell it to them lol.. i'm taking offers

Are you going to replace the covers over those buttons?

Who said anything about "finding" the parts?

i was wanting to stick with original parts.. but since the power button was gutted by pulling it our the front, the originals might not fit right(bigger hole now). plus finding them is proving to be difficult.. so it looks like i'll have to put a different kind in it.
guess it wouldn't matter if the covers are custom.. what would you charge for something like that? i don't have the stuff to make something like that.
