Okay... I asked the engraving shop about removing the superglue. They said that they used lighterfluid to remove stuff but wasn't sure if it would remove superglue...

Then I found on the internet another interesting idea. Wet a paper towel. put it on the spot. Then use an iron to melt the superglue which will stick to the paper towel (or be absorbed) and come off. That sounds promising. And if I'm quick I bet it won't mess the plastic up

I'm going to experiment later tonight.

Also any thoughts on powering the dreamcast with 5V from the screen? Less regulators is better right?

Hot iron trick didn't work...

But I wired there screen today.

You can see here where I cracked the case.

it doesn't matter though since more sidewalls go over it...

That's how thin it is! but it still needs another half inch to clear a spinning disc.

I'm pretty sure acetone (nail polish remover) will take off superglue. Be careful though, I think if you leave the acetone on the plastic too long it will melt the plastic.

Edit: Don't do that. See dragonhead's post below me.

Fight MS Paint abominations! If you don't have a camera, go here, and pick something 3 megapixels or higher.

Madfistmikey's Post here
http://forums.benheck.com/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=40717" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

mentions custom cases (which I like 8) )

I gave him the files for the 4 pieces I cut earlier and he said he could do it for half of what the signshop charge me (I didn't even tell him what they charge me in the first place, unless he read this post)

Plus he can cut 1/2" acrylic :D

I am seriously in portable building mode now. I have new sources yay!

I'm back on my feet! Literally after surgery...

All the people I've been trying to get to cut the sidewalls are not responding...

Thus I've just emailed Pololu laser cutting (online service) to get a quote to have all the sidewalls done.

While I was at it I decided to draw in screw holes...

I'll wait the next couple days for a quote I guess.

They replied... $140 to cut the sidewalls out of 1/4" clear acylic (It's stacked up to be 2")

But it looked like the sizes were slightly off so I replied directly back to them :|

Fixing the sizes shaved about $10 off the price.

However he said the biggest saving would be to align the pieces together so that the laser only has to cut a line once.

So if I have two perfect L shaped pieces. I would align the L's together (L L) Put the corner of 1 L inside the corner of the other. Then erase the line on the second L so that the machine doesn't try to cut it twice. He claims this will significantly lower the price.

I've actually always wonder how one would do this in inkscape and managed to figure it out ;)

Sadly there weren't that many perfectly straight pieces I could do this with... I guess the next thing to do would be aline my rounded L shaped pieces and erase the inside line (because that one doesn't matter. That should make them work... I'm glad I'm typing while I'm thinking... I just thought of a good idea :D

I did it to a couple of pieces and shaved off $20

I wouldn't be surprised if it cost $50 now...

I was mistaken.
100 for practically all the sidewalls needed for this portable.

I can vouch for Pololu's patient team of laser cutting experts :D They've held my hand many times as I dealt with some lousy resizing issues due to Inkscape files being wonky when opened in Adobe Illustrator. Also, yes - reuse lines whenever and wherever possible. Less lines and less material equals lower cost. If all else fails you might ask Pololu's team for some help in rearranging your design to fit everything together as tight as possible.
