I have some ADHD. I can't pay attention to one thing. Instead of not being able to pay attention to something, it's like paying perfect attention to EVERYTHING. The chair's slight spring when you rock, the paper being moved ever so slightly from a fan blowing near it. Also I can't sit still for my life.

I have had ADHD since I was little. I was diagnosed at age 9, but wasn't medicated until I turned 15. The difference is huge. I was prescribed Adderall, and I can only describe the sensation as that of my brain sliding into place. Suddenly, I could focus. I could keep myself on one track. It was like a paperweight in my brain, holding on the thoughts down until I needed them.

That being said, I meet 90% of the criteria for ADHD/ ADD in the DSM-IV, and it does have genetic roots in my family. It wasn't like I couldn't sit still so they put me on meds, you dig? I actually have the condition.

Regarding dose: I take 30mg Adderall XR daily. While I have long since built up an immunity to the "euphoric" effects, it still works for keeping me focused.

because of my insurance situation and stuff like that i am currently trying to deal with my ADD in a non perscription way. currently i take a combination of lecithin, piracetam, omega3 fatty acids and a few other vitimins. i'd like to try CDP choline or another choline source to take along with my piracetam, and trying higher dosages to see if it helps anything. currently i'm taking 800mg of lecithin and something like 1500-2000mg of piracetam. it doesnt work like typical ADD meds as its not a stimulant, it juts makes your brain work better!

its a bit of a necro bump, but his post contributed to the thread so its OK in my book.

originally i was prescribed 10mg adderall XRs but at 198$ a month for 30 pills (and me having the worst insurance ever that wouldnt cover it) i had to get switched to 20mg instant release generic adderall (doesnt work as well but 15$ a month for 60 of em ) it worked but i went from 5mg/day to my perscribed dosage of 20mg/day in about 2 months due to tolerance buildup, even with me taking magnesium to prevent it. thats when i learned about piracetam and its cognitive benefits, its total lack of side effects, and its non toxic nature. ive taken it a couple months and at my current dose i havent noticed a huge difference but it does make me feel more "with it" and on the ball

welcome to the world we live in, 198$ a month for 30 10mg XRs, or 136$ a month for 30 36mg concerta, or straterra for like 160$ a month. the only sh** i can afford is ritalin (cheap but about kills me from side effects) or instant release adderall (works half as good as XR and lasts 1/4 as long) because i dont have any insurance and when i did have insurance, which i got JUST to pay for my meds, they wouldnt pay for my meds.

i've given up on seeking any kind of professional help for my condition because all the doctors and bureaucrats dont give a flying **** about me or my situation, they just want my money and wasted 2 ******* years of my life when i was actually trying to get help. our country is going to hell in a hand basket

the insurance situation and legal status of amphetamines might be different where you live
