Prototype Atari PCB made!

Post by gannon »

I just got my prototype Atari PCB in, so I'll be assembling it today. The dimensions are 2.5"x3.3125".

Isn't it amazing how far technology progressed in almost 30 years? 8)

That looks cool.

Is it possible to buy all the things that would make the atari from a local electronics store? Or is anything custom in the atari?

You can get most of the parts at Radio Shack or Digikey, but I think the "Big three" (TIA, Stella, and RIOT) need to come out of old Ataris.

Umm... aren't the TIA and the Stella the same chip?
Anyways, the riot is a standard 6532 and the 6507 is standard too. Only custom chip in the Atari is the TIA.

IF the prototype works then I'll definitely :)
Of course I probably won't preassemble them because that takes too long :-P

I'm almost done putting in all the components for the PCB. I need to pick up a few more parts though, and the TIA chip is getting shipped to me on Monday. It should work, and I really hope it does.
