I am considering what cooling to use in my xbox 360 laptop. I plan on getting two 60mm case fans and putting them on the top and putting three 35mm fans on the back. I dont know which way to push the air though.
Should I have the big fans blowing air into the case and the 35mm fans sucking air out?
Or Should I have the 35mm fans blowing air into the case and the big fans sucking air out?
I am also unsure whether my modified cpu heatsink will be able to cool the CPU.

Re: Xbox 360 laptop cooling ideas.....
i have done extensive testing in terms of cooling and i can tell you the dual GPU heatsinks will put extreme stress onto the chips.
try looking for a LGA775 heatsink,
make sure you pick one that has a FLAT frame e.g.
because you will need to relocate the bolts.

Re: Xbox 360 laptop cooling ideas.....
is that the zerotherm atom 30h heatsink, and what do you men about relocating the bolts?
Also where can i get one of these in the UK without spending a huge amount on postage?
Also would it be possible to have two of these, one for the gpu and cpu?
And could i have a 1U copper heatsink from a server instead, and would it fit?
Thanks

Re: Xbox 360 laptop cooling ideas.....
if you aren't too far along, I'd recommend getting one of the new xboxs with the same-die GPU/CPU. All your cooling in one location.
I agree with the liquid cooling idea.
as far as intake/outtake, figure out which fans are going to have the higher static preassure and airflow. Use these as your outflow. If your stronger fan setup is on the intake, the air will rush in initially and then won't have anywhere to go so the fan loses it's effectiveness. Switching it up will make it easier on your fans bringing air in since there will be a sort of vacuum for it to fill.

Re: Xbox 360 laptop cooling ideas.....
Today I tried a different cooling solution. I cut down the cpu heatsink to only 3cm high and then put fans directly above it, blowing down. It cooled very well at 25celcius for the cpu and 30celcius for the gpu(under playing a dvd, I can play games yet as my dvd drive broke and I need to lash a new drive with the key).
Please take a look at my progress on the little video that I made: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NLfzXXa04dE
I think I will use this method in my laptop, but with 10mm thick fans that blow a lot more air out than the stock 360 fans.
Also thanks for your help!
Bye
