GaaraBoy Colour SP

Post by Gaara Ichimaru » Tue Aug 31, 2010 5:38 pm

So I was sitting on my sofa, ice pack to my head and elbow, bleeding, bruised and in shock, kinda dizzy. Just got hit by a car. Not fun. Outside my front door too... I Look up from where I'm sitting, see my Gameboy Advance SP and next to it is the empty shell of my grape 2nd hand Gameboy Colour.

Now my Gameboy Advance's shell broke a tiny bit and It was bothering me. I could see that darn green motherboard and just couldn't resist.

Well as the story goes I got home from the hospital just after midnight played new super mario bros DS and tryed to sleep on an uncomfortably bruised cut head...

I wake up... Go downstairs, pick up the gameboy advance sp... crack it open, take out the LCD, use a pair of wire cutters to completely clear out the gbc's shell, remove the battery compartment, mold, sculpt etc, after a lot of tight squeezing and cutting, sellotaping gluing and cursing enough to make a sailor cringe I had succesfully made a good working Gameboy Colour SP.

Here are the pictures, I know this is pretty poor and awfully sellotaped  but it turns on and works. And as my first big Mod I'm fairly happy with it!

Yes It looks crappy...

And about the car accident... Nobody mention the darn hedgehog and that stupid song again! :x lol x

Here's a video too:

Thanks Guys!

Tape does not count when modding cosmetically.

NOOOOO DO NOT USE SILICONE EVER!!!
DO NOT!!
DO NOT!!
DO NOT!!
Sorry, but please dont. It's like hot glue and doesnt even bond. Good luck painting it and dont even think about sanding. I can recommend epoxy. It's like bondo. I typically use JB Weld KwikSteel. They have it at Home Depot, probably Lowes, and sometimes Walmart.

Thank you for the advise... Almost bought some then I saw it in a video and thought... I don't think this is gonna work...

Can you buy epoxy on Amazon or Ebay?

EDIT: I live in the UK. So none of those stores can apply... Lol.

Dont buy anything clear, or labeled "plastic epoxy." Try looking for JB weld products.

If all else fails, hell, you can ship it to me and I'll do it for a little cash.
