The NESAP: Almost Portable

Post by Donalbain619 »

Hey everybody on the benheck.com Forums! I'm pretty new here but why beat around the bush, right? This is going to be my first attempt at a project like this, but I do have some soldering skills so here's hoping for the best. My idea is to make an NES portable except without the screen. Without it the battery life will be a bit longer, and I'll have AV out jacks to connect to a TV or portable DVD player if your in the car. Tell me your input, and I'll make this a worklog on my progress.
I have nothing clever to say here. Sorry.

Its a good idea, but it's not entirely essential to phase out a screen in your portable to save battery life. You could just make a power adapter for a NES or NES clone to work in the car or just attach batteries to the console.

You could go with a modular screen concept or get a smaller less power consuming screen.
Really the battery types they offer today can keep a NES and CCFL backlit LCD screen running approximately 2 hours.
That is if you decided to wire the batteries in series or parallel.

I'm not beating down your idea, but it just doesn't seem like a portable project as most electronic gadgets today can be used within a vehicle.

That's actually something I had in mind for later on. Make an attachment screen that plugs into the portable. I think this is good for a beginner because you don't have to worry about the screen. Thanks rikitheshadow!
