Beats the piss out of the Goodwills around here. I asked what they do with all the returns for electronics and they said "Dumpster." I asked if they were serious. "Someone brought back a Nintendo with about 40 games. Said it didnt work, it got thrown into the dumpster." I called their corporate office and they DENY that they do that. "All returned items are sorted and sent to the warehouse where they are sold in bulk." I asked someone else at other stores, they said,"...No, we just throw them.."

They do returns? My thrift store only does returns on clothes, pretty much everything else is sold as-is.

Every one I've been to has mentioned it with regards to electronics...

Everyone I asked said they did the same thing. I gave them my card and told them I'll buy their broken electronics. Pretty sure they threw out my card too...

Theoretically, you can return anything to the thrift store you bought it from.

...You just won't get any money back. : P)

lol
I wish I could get in store credit by donating stuff. Then I could clean out my room and fill it with new junk.

Went to Goodwill the other day. They haven't had much for fun electronics lately (just a bunch of broken inkjet printers and 25-year-old TVs with terrible pictures), but I did grab a couple tapes.

Some promotional Oldsmobile/NCAA tape which went with their 1991 marketing campaign, still unopened in the shrink wrap:

And a 1990 VHS copy of The Empire Strikes Back (pre-Special Edition):

$3 for both.

Not exactly a yard sale or thrift store find, but Target had Transcend 4 gig USB drives on clearance for about $5 apiece so I grabbed a few of those.

I went to the salvation army the other day.

Got a Doors shirt from 1998 for a buck, and an old TMNT tape (the cartoon, not movie) for something like a buck fifty.

I'm gonna check Salvation Army and "St. Vincent De Paul" sometime this week coming. (St. Vincent is a thrift store. They carry usually broken/old/rare electronics. You'd usually pay an arm and a leg for the good stuff, but my buddy works there. He says theres a boxed NES, and maybe an intellavision there....)

Nice. The St Vincent De Paul thrift store by my house even has old computers and cases and monitors.

I got a boxed Atari 7800 with four boxed 2600 games (Football, Galaxian, Gyruss, and Starmaster) for $20 at a flea market yesterday. The RF out plug on the back of the 7800 was broken, but I replaced it and it works fine now.
