on a old computer i salvaged i found a old buttom that was used to turn it on, i want to hook it up to my computer via usb, but how do i do it?

Yeah....no. That's not gonna happen.
You could turn your computer off through USB my touching the +5v pin to the ground pin. But that is probably the worst possible way to turn it off.

Use the guts from an old USB game controller and an automation tool like AutoHotKey, and you'll have a button you can program to do anything. (I did something like this with an Easy Button from Staples and made a floor button for Ventrilo's push-to-talk key.)wowguides4u wrote:no, just want to use it, say... to open a browser or something
