Re: pc to tv help
First off, punctuation works wonders when coherence is desired.
Anyway, it would appear you are trying to display the image from your computer on your TV. If all your video card has is VGA out, there are converters you could buy to convert that signal to HDMI (such as this one) or to whatever signal you want. What exactly is the application you are going for?

If you want to use S-video, you can use something like this.

By application, he wants to know what you want to use it for. Games, movies, HD movies, etc.catsaiyan wrote:what do you mean by that?is there a svid card for normal card slots (like wifi not video cards)? What exactly is the application you are going for
You have to be more technical. The slots you are talking about can be PCI, AGP, or PCI Express, probably PCI with one of the others.
I'll assume you have an open PCI slot, or can make one open. You could then buy a cheap old video card with TV out. It should be fine if you just want to watch DVDs with it.
Your current video card is probably AGP or PCI Express, if it's a dedicated card. You could replace it with one that have TV out, especially if it's an older card and you want to play some games (assuming the rest of the system is up to it).
Ketchup's link would work, too.

Re: pc to tv help
Keep in mind that if you go with a converter like the one I suggested, there will likely be some lag. That won't matter if you're using it for videos or something, but if you're planning on using it for games, it's something to consider. If there's significant lag, most games will be fairly unplayable. In that situation, a video card with S-video out as vskid suggested would be the best way to go about it.catsaiyan wrote:thanks it will hopefully work .
Without any information about your computer, nobody can answer this.catsaiyan wrote:now that i read this your right what is the highest game i could play i was going to just do emulators and quake/doom.

Re: pc to tv help
Basically you have two options:
1. Get a video card with S-Video output. This is the method I recommend, because you're upgrading your PC's performance (especially if you're using the crap built-in video chipset). Your options vary depending on the available expansion slots and power supply headroom your PC has to offer.
2. Get a VGA to NTSC/PAL converter. They're external boxes that plug into the VGA monitor port on your PC and translate the signals to the appropriate format for your TV. They're messier to wire, need their own power supply, and sometimes it's tricky to dial the picture in so it looks decent.
Both options will cost about the same (if you get a halfway decent video card like a GeForce 9x00 or Radeon HD3xxx series).
Quake and Doom are both very old games. Pretty much any PC made in the last 12 years will run them fine.
Like others have said, we need your PC's specs if you want more specific advice.

That's like saying "my car has four doors". We need a model number. (Or a clear photo.)catsaiyan wrote:the borad is like this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mini-ITX

Don't forget that the best resolution you'll be able to get is 640x480 (anything higher will either be downscaled or won't be displayed), but that shouldn't be a problem if it's just for emulators and old games. Newer ones, however, won't look very good, and won't have nearly enough detail.

Re: pc to tv help
The link is about the form factor. There's thousands of Mini-ITX motherboards out there.
HP, Dell, etc are manufacturers. Brand names. We need a model name or number.
For example:
Dell Dimension 630
HP Pavilion dv5000
Gigabyte EP45-UD3L
Toshiba Portege 7200CT
Actually, it might be easier if you just download and run this on it:
http://www.piriform.com/speccy" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Save a snapshot from that program (not a screenshot) and upload it here as an attachment.
