Xbox mobo cutting

Post by JariV » Sat Feb 27, 2010 7:26 am

Hey guys,

now my N64p is on hold 'till the buttons arrive, I wanna start a new project, slimming down my Xbox Classic and giving it a nice casemod.

Does anyone have some pictures about slimming down the mobo? I'm pretty broke so this is a low-budget operation and I can't kill my only Xbox :p

Here's some worklogs for slim xboxes that one of my online buddies did:

You'd be pretty damn crazy to try to cut an xbox mobo, there are at least a two layer board with a zillion contacts to reconnect. Since you can't change the size of the motherboard, you have to get a slim CPU cooler and lay down the capacitors to make the height (or depth) smaller

PS: There are some hi resolution scans of a version 1.1 and 1.6 motherboards here

For an example of how you can really slim the height down, see the Xbox Micro.
As for the PicoPSU, maybe check hackmodford's xbook log.
