Elephant64 Worklog

Post by ToastBucket » Thu Feb 18, 2010 10:07 pm

I started an N64p a while ago and I decided to start up a worklog. I'll post pictures soon. Just a coupleof minutes ago I busted my screen's board :'( I was trying to do the mod that makes it brighter by removing and bridging a capacitor but my iron picked up the two capacitors on either side as well and I couldn't get them back on and it all became a big mess. I posted in the trading post for a new board ( /viewtopic.php?f=11&t=36472 ). I tried bridging some connections but that just made it in black and white

I changed the name of my n64 from Toasty64 to Elephant64 because the placement of my shoulder buttons makes it look kind of like an elephant

anyway....I cut out the three button holes and mounted them. The Yellow Circle is where I'm going to put a C-stick, the grey circle is where I'm going to put the analog stick, and the grey cross is where the dpad will go

Just wondering. Not like I would be interested in buying it. I'm building my own.

Whats the best way to mount buttons? I currently have them mounted as tactile buttons with a small mechanism of wires going through the buttons and down through the perfboard to keep them from coming off. here's a picture.

I am trying to get a Gamecube joystick to work with my SuperPad (RetroBit) but It always registers as being pressed. I followed this http://kyorune.com/modding/article.php?id=82" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; but it just wont work. I have tried this mod on three different third party controllers but they all yield the same result. I also tried it on my C-stick from the same controller. Do I need new sticks or is this fixable?

Yeh, something about him seems familiar. But I just can't seem to place my finger on it.

On his profile it says his interest is ModRetro. But as I remember he had some falling out with them a while ago. Can't be Bac. :? (not sure whether a smile or a frown would be more appropriate)

I have a question. 8) I am making a failing attempt to replace my c-buttons with a gamecube c-stick. I have 6.8k resistors on the middle pins going to ground. but they don't seem to be doing anything. When I touch the + wire to one of the pins on the stick it immediately registers as being pressed even though I am not moving the joystick at all. I tried it without a resistor and just a wire going straight to ground and I got the same result. Does anyone know whats wrong?

Is IDE cable big enough for all the wiring for a screen controller and console?
