PS2 Controller Rewire glitches Help Please

Post by ivm86 »

Hello, I am working on a play station 2 portable and have completed the dual shock controller rewired using tactile switches. After completing all the buttons work however i keep getting a glitch where the up button seems to be glitching as is being pressed.

I tested playing a game and everything works just as it should except when i get to the menu sections. I have tried using 3 different aftermarket controllers ( as these are easier to reqire) and i get this same issue with all of them.

please help me with figuring out what the issue could be. All help is appreciated.

I will gladly supply a photo however i tried disconnecting all the tactile buttons and this glitch still happens. This glitch did not happen prior to the modification of the remote control. If it was a wire connected at the wrong location this glitch would not happen when all the tactile connections are removed.

Could it be a resistor i am missing or maybe interference .

The wierd part if that this only happens with the up button. Every other button works well. I have tried with 3 different controllers and this same glitch happens.

this is a photos of my connections. I tried using a single common ground however this was not working. using this setup all the buttons work except for the scroll up and down buttons go crazy as if they were being pressed.

i setup first to make sure all buttons were working however the glitch has happened with 3 controllers.

Please help. If anyone can help emailing me a photo of their connection setup, i am sure this would greatly help.

I am using an aftermarket ps2 controller because i saw it was easier to modify. Can anyone post pictures of their controller setup using the original ps2 controller doesnt matter what version. Has anyone tried using the chameleon ps2 controller for a portable ps2.

Thanks for your help.

I wanted to report that i finally quit using that controller and moved to a regular gamestop controller with the same setup and everything is working fine. No glitches and no problems not.

Anyone playing a ps2p i recommend it as it is very easy to solder onto and easy to hack. I can add photos if anyone interested
