Powering a ps2 slim off 7.4v batteries (step up regulator?)
Moderator:Moderators
yep. i have a huge li-ion pack that i wanna use, but i dont feel like wiring it for 11.1v, so is there a way to get 8.5v or so volts out of it, just by using some kinda switching regulator or something? preferably from TI; free samples FTW!

thats cool, but it wont work for me! i need one that accepts 7.5 volt input. that one maxes out at 5 volt input.

Maybe it will take 7.5v and not the minimum of 8v. Email him and see

If that ever failz, you could always use a switching regulator to lower the voltage to 5v, and then wire a step up regulator to raise it to 8.5v.

Found this a while ago. It'll be terribly inefficient, but it could work in a pinch.
