I am thinking about using a Pelican Case for the Laptop.
Is this a good case for it?

That looks good as far as thickness, but probably a bit big length or width size. Also, for a 7" screen on that case, you'd need a really big screen bezel.

Well, I have a CNC machine that can cut this case out for you. Symmetrical nice, precision cut.
Check it out

Wow. That kind of sounds like an ad. Sorry.
But it really will get what you want, should be cheap, and will look professionally made like ben's laptops.

Would you like a professional looking custom case for your portable? I may be able to help you. Check out this link:

Looking at it, 'Fro, the DC keyboard is going to be big there - they are the same size as a normal full-sized PC keyboard - ie big.

BTW - still want one if I can get one for you?

Awesome!!!

Only problem is that I don't know anything about drawing designs for CNC.

Yeah, but I was planning on cutting off the number pad from it.

And yes, please!

Isn't there a mod out there which lets you use any keyboard for the Dreamcast? I remember seeing it somewhere, I just can't remember where. (I miss the Dreamcast heydays. I can't find anything for my poor Sega anymore.)

Also, you can use this program to make CNC designs:

Best of all, Inkscape is free!

Yes, there is an adaptor for using a PS2 mouse or keyboard on a DreamCast; if you can find them.

Both Maplebus and PS/2 protocols are fairly well documented, if you have understanding of how to program microcontrollers, it shouldn't be too hard to roll your own.

I've not seen a how to personally, but I was only really keeping up during the hey-day of the homebrew scene. The two commercial adapters I have use a probably custom bare chip covered in black epoxy.

Why bother with a VGA box if you're going to mod the Dreamcast so much? Just wire the functionality to the AV port directly.
