Atari 2600 with MIDI and Video Mod

Post by Rekarp » Mon Nov 30, 2009 5:20 pm

Oih longtime peoples.

Been working on this puppy for awhile now. This is a Heavily modded Atari 2600 Heavy Sixer. It is modded with the Longhorn Engineer V2.2E S-Video mod and the MIDI2600 mod. The Video mod enables it to output both S-Video and Composite Video as well as splitting the Audio Signal into two distinct Left and Right channels. The MIDI2600 mod allows the user to plug in a MIDI keyboard to control the Atari 2600. These coupled with the Synthcart create a fairly unique 8-Bit "musical" device.

Synthcart: http://www.qotile.net/synth.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

edit// i just uploaded it so it may take a bit to get there.

I don't produce music I built this for a customer. But after playing around with it I might have to build a All in one MIDI2600. Keyboard/Atari/Synthcart/Videomod/Screen

I have been looking at MIDI NES devices. Whos up for a All in one 8-bit Synthesizer?

FREE BIRD! :P

I'd like to see something like this but for the Genesis. That Yamaha audio chip can do some pretty nice funk music.

That'd be cool! It sounds better then that band that uses Atari computer equipment to make music. It's an awesome mod, you should bring that to the MGC.

If you can make one for the NES, how different is it for each system? Cause an NES does sound cool, but using the Sony chip in the SNES would be just plain sweet.

Each system does sound a whole lot different. Play an Atari (Pitfall II has great music for it) and NES the sound is completely different.

Do you know where I can buy a synthcart? The Atariage store appears to be down.

You win. There shall be a Keytari coming to MGC.
