PS2 Screens, PSOne Screens, & RGB

If you're making a portable you probably need something to watch it on. (Unless you want to guess what's happening in the game, but I wouldn't advise that) Anyway, this forum is your "Hacking a pocket TV/screen" one-stop solution. Share your experiences and knowledge here.

PS2 Screens, PSOne Screens, & RGB

Post by A Murder of Crows »

hey all

i got hit with inspiration last night and decided to tear down my PSOne screen in order to make use of it to play on my PS2 in RGB.

i found the included wires to be too short to really do anything with, but it worked well enough and looked beautiful.

then i got to thinking about the PS2 screens, and wondered if any of them actually had RGB in, especially the widescreen displays and the ones for the new PSTwo.

I have the 50001 series PS2 system, complete with network adapter. i want to use it much like i used my PSOne system: as a moible monitor for other video inputs and such. i'd *REALLY* like to use a 7 in or bigger display, but all those that i have seen are for the PSTwo system or are from the UK, which would mean PAL i think.

anyone have any suggestions as far as monitors that are large, widescreen, and take RGB? how about ways to mount them when you have the network adapter?

thanx

How long did you play your PS2 through RGB? Because I'm pretty sure after about 15 min the screen will get a green tint. I think SONY implemented this to prevent piracy somehow :?

interesting....didn't notice...will have to check that out....though if you are talking about Macrovision, it's disabled in my machine. And once i changed output from component to RGB, i had full color.

i'll turn on the system now with a game and let it go for a bit to see.

I played about 20 mintues on dynasty warriors 3 and i did feel like the screen was kinda tinted green. reset and it felt more "normal"

wonder if that was just my eyes playing tricks because you said something or if it was legit, so i'm trying it again.
