Is there a way to completely remove the massive PSU from the original PS1?
And just wire up batteries straight to the mobo.

You could, but it takes 2 voltages. Think they're 3.3v and 7.4v.

That no problem using the PTH circuit.
Do you have a diagram of how to do this?

Haven't got my ps1 yet.
But this could be a reference for anyone needing help.
Do you know how to connect the batteries straight to the mobo?
