I asked this before on here, but I still never figured out what it was.
My TV makes a very annoying sound when I turn it on, and it does it for about 20 minutes after it's on. After that it stops and sounds fine. It's sort of like a ton of electrical pops, and a hissing noise. It's not from the speakers, it's coming from above the tube. It also gives off a weird smell while it's making the noise also. I would have taken it apart and tried to find out were exactly it was coming from, but I don't really feel safe opening a TV. It's been doing this since I got the TV 6 years ago or so.
TV making weird noises.

Re: TV making weird noises.
Did you get it new or used?
Are there any problems with the picture? (Flicker, lines, etc)
My grandfather's old TV was doing that; turned out ot be some of the high-voltage electronics dying.

Re: TV making weird noises.
I got it new, and nope the picture is fine, no problems with it at all.
Re: TV making weird noises.
Usually that's debris in the tube itself being excited by the electron guns, not uncommon for a 6 year old TV. Turn off and unplug the TV for a couple of hours, then face the front down and shake, that will get the loose debris free of the guns, and when turned back upright, it should fall into the space below the image area of the TV.
