Well TI shipped my samples right away when I requested voltage step down things, but rambus asked when the final product was going into production and I haven't heard back since I replied.

RAMBUS, or do you mean RAMTRON? I'm assuming you got the FRAM's then?stuntpenguin007 wrote:but rambus asked when the final product was going into production

how long have you been waiting? I hope they didn't just get sloppy with their shipping:( my dad fried my psone and promised me to get a n64 so I NEED that part:P

Re: Do we have room for another N64P? (t64 WIP)
yeah ramtron. I knew something was wrong when I said rambus
And If your wondering how long I've been waiting for samples from ramtron, I don't know, but I don't think I'll be getting the samples.
When I got samples from TI they came in 2 or 3 days after ordering.
Why do you "NEED" that part? and were you referring to the voltage step downs from TI or the FRAM from ramtron?

Ohhh yes you should even though it will still take me a year even with a guidenevermind1534 wrote:The file with the layout.argelfraster wrote:Or at least a guide.

Got my regulators from Ti today, must say, I'm pretty impressed with them! I hooked it up to my "test" 64 to see how it coped with loads. I loaded the regulator with all of the following and powered it with a 12v, 7Ah lead acid battery:
Rev. 04 board (has 2 RDRAM's on board)
Expansion pack
Oscillators
5V step-up
Modded rumble pak that runs from the 3.3V line instead of batteries
and a simple pre-amp I made for the audio connected to 5V.
I didn't have the recommended 1.89K resistor so I used 2, 3.9k resistors in parallel, which give me about 1.97k and 3.25v out. The regulator didn't even break a sweat! It got a little warm but not quite as hot as the other one did. The little pre-amp worked ok, it uses one 3904 transistor and some resistors and caps, it was clipping though. I may have to play with the values a bit to prevent clipping.
Here's a pic of the monstrousity:

In other news; I'm very close to finishing up the board design and added the AVDC-NUS chip back in but, left the digital connector in place so I can still tap into the signals.

Re: Do we have room for another N64P? (t64 WIP)
how are you going to get your supaboard made?
and when you do, why don't you change the design so you could easily break it in half and solder back the connections, making it way smaller but thicker:D

We'll see, I had a slightly different idea in mind.

Re: Do we have room for another N64P? (t64 WIP)
Nah, it'll still just be double sided, the vias are the ones that will be a bit of an issue to make at home (and drilling so many tiny holes is going to be a nightmare) but, that's where I have some ideas. I haven't had problems routing traces, it's just organizing them and figuring out where best to put them is time consuming. So far, the left half of the board is pretty much complete and laid out the way it will be in the final product. I still have a few unfinished things on the right hand side of the board like power traces and some things on the controller.
I wanted to try out an SMT oscillator for the game controller chip but, I can't seem to find any 2.00MHz oscillators like those other tiny ones. I think I'll have to stick with either the resonator from the controller or get a SMT crystal, however, funds are kinda low at the moment so I'll have to wait a bit before I can order more stuff. I'm thinking of ordering that screen skyone suggested next time I place another order for the other parts so that I can play with it and figure out how I can put it to use.

Re: Do we have room for another N64P? (t64 WIP)
looking forward to see where youll go with this. any ideas on case design yet? i may be able to help you lay something out conceptually once you have some final internal dimensions for the mainboard and other components. i also may have a few ideas for controls...

No, not yet, I want to get a really good idea of how big everything will be, measurements, once it's all working, then I'll start thinking about what it will look like, I want it to look proportional, not too fat or wide or anything.
What sort of ideas?dragonhead wrote:i also may have a few ideas for controls...

I can just imagine this in two years from now. Kibble selling n64 kits for extremely small n64's and people saying what kind of n64 they used in it.
........
total cost: $300
n64 model used: kibble board (or kibble64)
time built 6 months on and off
... etc. etc.
Kibble if you started to make these for other forum members I would totally buy one. (if I had some money that is
