Help with an unusual NOAC.

So, I bought a Super Joy III off of Amazon, and everything worked fine, with the exception that the insides seem to actually be designed differently.
I was trying to follow G-force's pinout (http://forums.benheck.com/viewtopic.php?t=6538" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;]), but the shape of mine was way off, and it had 18 instead of the normal 13!
Can anyone lend a hand, and maybe give a link to the pinout for my own?

Alright, I'll try that, see how it goes.

Re: Help with an unusual NOAC.
The thing about that method is that you'll be able to find power, ground, audio, and video, but it'll be hard to find the controller pins. No idea how you'll figure that out.
Also, banditpaw, don't quote huge posts to say one sentence. It's kinda annoying.

Sorry...kylechu wrote:Also, banditpaw, don't quote huge posts to say one sentence. It's kinda annoying.
As for controller use a multi-meter and find 5v and ground for player 1 the other 3 pins are trail and error.
Re: Help with an unusual NOAC.
You may want to have a look at the Definitive NOAC Pinout Guide. I haven't checked, but maybe your model NOAC is in there.

Re: Help with an unusual NOAC.
I was looking through one of the links from the NES info sticky and found this pinout for an NOAC with 18 pins instead of 12:
I'm not sure if it'll work, but you could try checking a few of the lines that you can trace easily (power, video, audio, ground) and if they match up, the rest will probably work, too.

Huh, I have this one too! It looks like the company that makes these is super cheap and decided to make an even smaller NOAC to save some cash. It apparently runs off of 9v without a 7805 inside too. I'm making a pinout as we speak actually

Looks like the games are on a TSOP flash ROM instead of a glop-top. If it's an off-the-shelf chip, you should be able to load some of your own games

Re: Help with an unusual NOAC.
I think I've found a different revision board just about every time I've opened up a new Super Joy III. That makes about five different boards that I've personally seen. It's annoying because I have to start from scratch each time I need a pinout.

Mine too. They are so many different boards that I doubt the Super Joy Series is owned by any one company. I have noticed that some have more faulty parts than others, though. One crapped out on me because the resistors on the board AND one of the capacitors were faulty.
The other hasn't failed me yet. They are all built terribly regardless.

Any luck with this? I've got the same board and so far I can only tell that the first 6 pins run into the glopped chip on the board and the other three are video, audio and the on/off switch.

I think the answer to our questions lie in this post, although only time will tell. Or, that is, after I resume work on my SJ3 portable this weekend. I managed to fry that other one, so another one's arriving in the mail soon...
