still need some help but now its a work log.

Hey i cant find any of the old diagrams that are for my 3.3 volt converter. It is a PT78HT233H from texas instruments, any diagrams would be greatly appreciated. Also im wondering if i will be needing any heat sinks if i have a fan in the case? The converter is from a few years ago before everyone used the 8000 one that im seeing now but they are quite similar and require the same cap and resistor. I realized i might aswell give this another shot since i picked up a cheap n64 at Value village. Thanks.

Re: Need help with an old converter and a heat question
There is no point in a fan without heatsinks, and you pretty much NEED heatsinks in your portable, but inversely there is less point in heatsinks without a fan. And to make things easy on yourself, I would just get the six PTH samples from TI.

There ya go. You need heatsinks, a fan isn't mandatory but will help.

On the datasheet posted by marshallh there is the circuit for it...the standard application in the first page...you need only an 100uF electrolityc capacitor...and if you want also a 1uF ceramic capacitor to reduce disturbs.
