Anyone heard of this?
It's the iQue Player, released in Japan as a Nintendo 64 built into a controller with a few games saved onto the flash memory.
Apparently it's just a NTSC Nintendo 64 with common on a chip technology to make it smaller.
Is it possible to wire a cartrige slot to this and make it into a minute portable?

No. There are no pinouts for a cartridge connector.
Its not a N64OAC, because its way different than a n64. It only supports a small number of games, and the games on it, are modified versions of the n64 counter parts.
Now, on the other hand, there are some rumours that the "chips" that the games come on, are basically a modified SD card. Therefore, with some hacking you may be able to get some "roms" of games it supports to work on it.
Palmertech would be better at explaining this, than me. He has two of them.

I could explain it in more technical terms, but the long and short is: You cannot add a cart slot, the best you can do is possibly pirate all of the few games that were released for it, in Chinese.
An iQue portable is something I plan on making at some point, but unless you are okay with the several chinese games available, it is not a very good option.

Excellent

I've been really interested in getting one of these for a year or two and maybe building something like this to dump me some roms. http://www.crazynation.org/N64/IQUE/ique.htm#Programmer" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I've always wanted to attempt a translation project for a game but I'm sure there's some ridiculous compression that I'd have to unpack the rom somehow.

Oh, OK. I'd rather not play the games in Chinese.
Thanks for the heads up.

1. This has been brought up many times
2. It does not have a cartridge slot
3. The games are encrypted, stored on NAND flash ROMs with an 8-bit serial interface (similar to sd cards)
4. They are expensive and hard to get.

I guess you could say that the iQue is a N64OAC. I might buy one and modify it in some way to hold SD cards. And soldering a 2.5 inch screen to it would be hard. But i think the iQue runs o 4 AA's or something?

A few people have tried to hack it in the last 3-4 years with no real success.N64god wrote:I guess you could say that the iQue is a N64OAC. I might buy one and modify it in some way to hold SD cards. You can read / write the nand

Although I'm thinking a socket mod would be more practical
