(as submitted in the compo):
Here are some pics of the completed system, complete with a video:
Final weight: a mere 750g.
Dimensions: 215 x 135 x 55mm
All details in the video:
YouTube video link
The worklog WIP for the system is HERE
The full worklog is on my Wordpress site, along with other tutorials, please have a look! This project (IntoGrafx) and previous one (IntoPlay) are on two sections - finished project and how-to guides on my site. That is to keep sections separate for modding the console system and also making the portable.
Please note - the Wordpress site has a limit of 35 users on at any one time, so if the site is busy, please try again in a few minutes!

Very nice, as I've come to expect from your work. I like the red paint too, very sleek.
There is no black or white but rather a million shades of gray...
Re: IntoGrafx - Bacteria's TurboGrafx portable system!
I love it. I also love how you use the same case!

Yeah, that case could probably be used for anything, and be comfortable as well as look cool.
I'm sure you could make some money just selling cases to people!

i also question the durability of the duct tape holding it together.

Actually, not sold many cases at all - doesn't matter though as I made them for my projects and if others want them they can PM me. I'm not advertising them directly anymore, not "hawking my wares" as the phrase goes.
The duct tape has very strong adhesion, if removing if I need to be careful not to remove the paint with it, it sticks really strongly, and as the tape is fairly thick, it isn't going to give at all. Four fairly small strips of sellotape is enough to hold the case halves together well, even though it would look bad, so you can imagine with stronger tape and far tackier adhesion (duct tape) going around the whole perimeter, it really holds together completely - no give, no flex; feels integrated.
I don't like screw holes in cases any more than tape, however one method or the other is needed to keep the case together, and as the motherboard is edge to edge everywhere screw posts can go, so there was no option but to use tape. Advantage of the tape is to cover any very minor imperfections with the cases not meeting 100%, and also a very fast method to seal a case shut! Duct tape is tough and also the one I used came in black, which was ideal!

That video was riveting!
Good job on completing another. I think I like this one best.

Re: IntoGrafx - Bacteria's TurboGrafx portable system!
Thanks!
Changed your post Bic? If I were showboating, I would have generated a new post for new sites showing my system, not adding them to the existing post. Anyway, so what? I don't take commissions (I am asked fairly frequently), not "hawking my wares", not making money from my hobby (make a loss actually): my thing is ego and fame not profit!
