I think from now on, I'm getting a guitar in every single picture I take for this board.eagle5953 wrote:Fact of the day: fully 50% of the pictures uploaded to this site have a guitar visible in the background.

Re: The Afternoon projects thread.
Just made a 3 foot N64 controller extension cable. Now I can buy stuff online again. Yay me!
You see, I had this deal with my mom. She thinks I use ebay too much, so she told me I had to make 2 things using non-online purchased parts. #1 was the N64 LED swap from a few posts up, and #2 was this. I have 15-min rechargable batteries for my camera. Will upload pics when they charge.

Re: The Afternoon projects thread.
I've spent today and yesterday painting my grey N64 controller white with red buttons. The buttons are painted and they're on their second coat of clear protective paint. The controller itself is terrible (bumps and driplines that're in places too awkward to sand), but hey. If no one wants it, I can use it myself. I'll upload pictures when I get the entire thing assembled, then I'ma work on my black controller. I'll probably just make the buttons white, unless I get a suggestion.

Re: The Afternoon projects thread.
You should put a N64 controller in a gamecube shell. You'd prettymuch have to chop it down to the IC and some resistors, then do mega rewiring. But having you do that is a sacrifice I'm willing to make.

Re: The Afternoon projects thread.
I'm way too cheap to go out and buy a Gamecube controller just for its shell, to be honest. That, and I'm not sure I'd need to chop up the N64 controller to fit inside a Gamecube controller's case. If people can get a N64 controller to work on the Wii, by God, I should be able to get a GC controller to work on the N64.

Re: The Afternoon projects thread.
You'd use the buttons, too
Also- you can already put a gc controller on the N64 w/ microcontrollers. The chopping and soldiering thing is epic-er, though.

I got pictures now.
I know, its ghetto. But it adds 3 feet to the controller cable.

Re: The Afternoon projects thread.
That is cool. I might have to do that? It seems simple enough. Maybe, you should post a mini-tut.
Re: The Afternoon projects thread.
no. its too simple to need a tutorial. if someone needed a tutorial to figure that out, they probably couldnt hold a soldering iron the right way up.mikeyg wrote:That is cool. I might have to do that? It seems simple enough. Maybe, you should post a mini-tut.

Re: The Afternoon projects thread.
Finally got some pictures up!
This is a 2-day project, but doesn't deserve its own thread. Therefore, it goes here.
The analog stick is a little messed up when playing with the controller. I'll have to crack it open and fix it. The L-button sticks a bit, but otherwise, it works fine!
Not the best paintjob, but it's MY paintjob.

Re: The Afternoon projects thread.
no. even a mini tut would be overkill. all it would say would be: cut the controller cord. solder in extra wire. wrap with electrical tape.mikeyg wrote:Why i said mini-tut.samjc3 wrote:no. its too simple to need a tutorial. if someone needed a tutorial to figure that out, they probably couldnt hold a soldering iron the right way up.mikeyg wrote:That is cool. its just too easy to need any instruction whatsoever.
