The NEShuck
Moderator:Moderators
I'm currently working on a one-handed controller for NES that will be housed in a nunchuck case.
I still have to remove some stuff on the inside of the case and bondo/paint it. The board is also cut up to fit inside but I haven't wired it yet.
Here's some pics!
I'll update with more pictures as I progress.

AWESOME! I can't wait to see it finished.

Thanks all!
I blindly ignored lefties because I'm making it for myself
I also wanted to keep the buttons for select/start grouped like on a regular (snes) controller.
Because they're diagonal they'll line up with my fingers in a natural and comfortable way.
One solution would of course be to put them above or below the D-pad, that way it would work for everyone.

Update!
Board trimmed some more and fitted inside, it should all come together as it's now. Next up is soldering.

Bah, we lefties are all ambedextros anyway! But then again, this would probably still feel really weird for us..
Question! Are you gonna make it wireless?

Re: The NEShuck
That's pretty cool. Nice work so far.
Sorry if you posted this already and I skimmed over it, but any idea on the final color?

I actually had the idea, but I'm not that experienced with wireless controllers.Metallica Man X wrote:Question! Are you gonna make it wireless?
Would I need the board of a wireless NES controller or can I make the original wireless in some way?
If it requires an already wireless one I guess it would be harder to fit it inside (guessing they are bigger), is that correct?
I've thought of two colors. Either grey, red A/B buttons, black D-pad and select/start like the original controllergrahf wrote:Sorry if you posted this already and I skimmed over it, but any idea on the final color?
or everything plain white with the exception of select/start to go for that Wii look. I think I'll go for white and then
mod a NES to match it. Kind of like my Shinju mod. I'd like to put a NOAC inside a Wii case, think that'll look sweet.
Edit:
Dang.. I just found this:
Would have been cool to do this mod with an analog stick. Oh well..

Re: The NEShuck
It's not an analog stick. It's just a lot of fancy plastic moving over the same four contacts of the d-pad. I find the standard d-pad a lot easier to use.
Very nice mod! As for wireless, yes, you would need a wireless NES controller. I don't know how much bigger the boards are, though. I don't own any wireless controllers. You could always get yourself an NES Satellite and tap into that, if you didn't want to plug into the console.
