Yes, you can, just like any OS that doesn't make your computer self-destruct. You will, however, lose your settings from Win 7.Tibia wrote:I realize this is probably a very stupid question, but if I don't purchase a full license when the RC runs out, could I just reinstall my current OS? I'm thinking about trying this with my office computer, and I know there's no money for me to get a new OS this year or next year.

Posting from it right now. Everything seems about the same as the beta, but I haven't poked around with it a whole lot yet.

Re: Windows 7 RC available NOW!
I burned it earlier today but haven't installed it yet. I'm going to wait until after my research paper is handed in this Friday to wipe my hard drive so I don't get screwed out of 300 points.
What's this Windows XP Mode I've been hearing about now? Is it like some sort of advanced Compatibility mode?

It is a virtualized copy of XP SP3 running inside of Vista. Your CPU needs to support it, though. AMD is pretty much a sure bet for anything within the last year or so, but Intel is more hit and miss.
Excellent
Re: Windows 7 RC available NOW!
I'm pretty damn sure my C2D E8400 will since it supports whatever Intel's silly name for Virtualization is.palmertech wrote:It is a virtualized copy of XP SP3 running inside of Vista. EDIT: Looked up my CPU for compatibility and it will be. Yay

Re: Windows 7 RC available NOW!
well dang the dvd I burned was corrupted.
Now I'm going to try and install from a SD card since my new computer's Bios sounds like can boot from there if I read the boot menu right.
Edit: well that didn't work.

You should be able to boot from a DVD just like you can boot from a CD.

The iso has a ".dlm" extension on it. I'm assuming it's for the download manager that M$ used, but shouldn't it have gone away? oh well.

I downloaded with Firefox and it just spat out a regular .iso. Are you sure it finished downloading?
