Xbox 360 controller mod

I'm trying to mod my xbox 360 controller so that it will have 3 analog sticks and no d-pad. I've used this tutorial (http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=466559) that shows contact points to solder to. After finishing my project, the analog stick works fine, but the left bumper does not work. After some playing with it, I found out that if I take the analog off, the left bumper works fine. So obviously the analog is causing the problem. Are there any othe contact points, or another way to do this?

You can't do that with the Matrix version controller, you'll need the CL (Wired) or CG (Wireless) version to do what ya want.
Screwing up is one of the best learning tools, so long as the only thing you're not learning is how to screw up.

Re: Xbox 360 controller mod
I had that problem with RDC's NES D-pad mod, the problem was actually mechanical, make sure your putting it together properly, I found the trick is to attach the bumpers to the front piece when putting it back together rather than the back.
Re: Xbox 360 controller mod
Okay, so I've got a "cg" controller now, and I've got some pics of the boards (here http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php? ... 8909&st=15). With it being common ground, where do I solder the middle posts on the analog? Any help?
Re: Xbox 360 controller mod
The first thing you'll need to do is cut the trace in both POTs..
..after that you'll wire up the middle lead of both POTs to any Ground spot ya want, then the 4 remaining leads of the POTs get wired up to the Up, Down, Left and Right spots.

Hey thanks for your help RDC. I've got it all wired up, and traces cut. Every thing is working great! Thanks again for the info.

looks sweet, but I can't think of a point to it.
Re: Xbox 360 controller mod
It would be cool if you re-wired the D-Pad and the analog stick to switch locations, like a playstation controller. I would like.

He replaced the sub-par d-pad with an analog stick, which I would imagine is much more responsive and easier to use.Diminuendo wrote:looks sweet, but I can't think of a point to it.
I like it! The paint job's sweet, as well.

Re: Xbox 360 controller mod
I like my modded controller a lot. The thumbstick works great for games like Call of Duty when I can flick it in the direction I need to get my map, explosives, or calling in recon/artillery/dogs. For me it works great, and is much better than the d-pad which was a real headache at times. I also am working on replacing the d-pad with just 4 buttons cut-out from the scrap controller I cut the thumstick from.
