I'm going to cut a hole in the side of my xbox 360 so I can put in a plexiglass window, and I'm also going to cut the dvd drive so I can see the disc spin. what kind of dremel should I get for this?
I'd probably use it for other things too like making a case for my upcoming snes portable. I think the dremel 400 xpr looks good, but reccommendations would be good.
thanks

I don't own a 400 XPR but based on its specification, I'd say it was a good choice Just make sure you take it slow so you don't chip/melt the plastic.

How fast is it's max RPM rating? You need it pretty high to get a smooth cut on plexiglass.
Making stuff with my new beautiful CNC machine!

For 360 Case - Just about any dremel will do just BE CAREFUL FOR GOD'S SAKE and don't melt the plastic!
If you're nervous about it, get a nibbler tool! (I'm not saying to buy it there, that's just an example so you know what I'm talking about.)
As for cutting acrylic...
Well, I personally HATE working with the stuff, it always wants to crack or shatter.
If you're careful, you "can" cut it with a dremel, but expect to destroy a number of sheets.
To be honest, the easiest way to cut it is with a laser cutter
If you're just cutting out a simple shape for the window (hurf, square), then you can actually get away with just scoring and snapping the acrylic, which works *most* of the time.
But if you're cutting out weird shapes n' whatnot, then GET THIS FOR THE LOVE OF GOD.
It's the only dremel tool I'd ever even try to cut acrylic with.

ok I'll get a dremel 400 XPR and for the plexiglass, I'll just score it and snap it, and then file down the corners so I have a rounded edge square.

Might be easier to just cut the plexi square cut your hole in the x-box with rounded corners. Defintely be easier to mount the plexi inside the case that way.
copulate all you goddamn smartasses.
