Okay, I've been slacking. (Resident Evil 5 happened)

But I drew up the case in SketchUp, so at least I have something for you to look at.

Image
There isn't much face detail, I was more interested in making sure the guts fit, and seeing how small I could make it. It's about 26cm across, or 10 1/4 inches. It might be a little less than that in the end, I didn't have a measurement for the cart connector so I eyeballed it.

Image
Super thin!
It's 2.6cm if I put in 8000mAh worth of juice, 2.02cm if I only put in 4000mAh. The lump on the back is the extra 4 Li-Po cells. It will be rounder and prettier when vacuum formed, but it's hard to draw compound curves, so I didn't.

Everything fits!

This was a fun adventure in learning how to use SketchUp. It's not a perfect program, but I really love it!

Expect real work soon!

The metal part of the screen will be outside the case alá Mario, but I'm going to use a plastic bezel like the bottom screen on a DSi. It will look slick. Should I opt for the extra juice, which I probably will, the whole back will be one big curve, but will be slightly flat so that it can rest without rocking. Think iPhone 3G back.

I'm not sure how I want to do the shoulder buttons yet.

I definitely can't fit controller ports like a first planned, so I'll make a little dongle. I'll probably have the port be mini USB, assuming that I can use one line for power, one for ground, and the other 2 for P1/P2 data. Would that work?

USB would be fine, I just like the small factor of mini-USB. I might even go crazy and do micro-USB!
Nothing but high-end cameras use that. It's crazy.

Thanks for the know-how, SS.

I would put a LOB64 port on, because it is triple purpose. AV out, controller ports, AND link functionality!

Only, I'm never going to see another portable in my life, I already own 5 N64 consoles, and CAT5 is ugly.

Mostly because CAT5 is ugly.
