I recieved my screen today.
It worked perfectly!
Then I took it apart.
When I conected a 7.2 volt 2300mAh battery to it, the image hartly , very slightly showed up. The battery was chareged so it wasnt the battery.
Then I plugged it back in to its original plug and something smelt burnt.
I checked the ps1 board and where the negetive black wire is for power, there was a little white mark on iton the side connected to the board. I dont know if i fried the board or not PLEASE HELP!!!!!!
Dont know what to tell you brotha. I have killed two. Many members in here are responsible for the deaths of many consoles and screens. I happens to everyone from time to time.
It sounds like you had a short, but it could be any number of things.
The image was faint because you didn't wire pin 12 on slot 2 to the 5v of the 7805; as is documented in the stickies. That is why noobs here should read stickies, research saves damaging boards. Don't mean to sound harsh, but before I started working on systems ages ago I spent hours learning what I could before attempting projects. The screen will work fine on your 7.2v cells, but you use the two power lines on the screen board not the power supply provided - that one steps down from a higher voltage (designed for the PS2 voltage needs) to the voltage the screen needs; if the full voltage goes to the PSone screen it fill certainly fry as it is over 8.5v. If your board is fried (as appears to be), you might try Erlex's diagram now he borrowed from an old post, as you have nothing to lose (not relevant before, the low screen colours was due to the light tubes in the screen not being switched on so being dark); however you then need to feed 5v into the board if you bypass the fuse, otherwise, if you use 7.2v you will further fry the board and kill it (if it isn't already fried). Chances are it is fried - in which case, ShockSlayer needs a replacement screen; you might get a few bucks back that way!
Put this down to experience, buy another screen, read the stickies.
