super nintendo disk storage: snds

Post by lovablechevy »

so i started this little project back in august or september, i can't really remember. it was meant to be a very quick side project that turned into a nightmare. but FINALLY, i am done with it! well, almost. i need to go get new ink cartridges and reprint the label, but other than that, it's done!

tibia kept on me to get it finished. thanks tibia! this one is for you!

so, i originally was gonna take a 2.5" laptop hdd (i don't remember the size now) and place it in an snes cart. simple plan, yes? well, i decided it was too simple, i guess. i was then gonna have it with the hdd open inside the cart with a window that had an led lighting the disk itself. cool concept, terrible execution. so after i ruined that hdd (somewhere between 80-100 gig i believe) i decided to go a bit simpler. i then got a 160 gig hdd to put in. i went about repairing the cart i had been working on. well, i'll let the pics speak for themselves.

if you would like to see pics of the entire process, you can go here.

i'll make sure to post the final pic once i am able to reprint the label.

thanks for looking!

I thought it was nearly impossible to open an hdd without corrupting it because if the smallest piece of dust got on it, it would be corrupted??

Haha! You did it! Did you put the LED behind the label? Great job filling in that window! I can't tell it's not original!

Do you still have that corrupted drive? What if you blew it out with compressed air and tried it? I still don't know why it didn't work for you. :( But damn, that looks good!

One of the discs might have gotten scratched on the corrupted one.

It puzzles me because I was working on an exposed HDD at the same time, and mine still works just fine.

eurddrue: yes, i have a zelda tattoo on my wrist. i was very confused at first how you would know that from those pics above, and then remembered it is in one of the older pics. lol! it is a 160 gig 2.5" laptop hdd.

thewise1: it is possible to do without corrupting it, but i accidentally touched the disks with my finger without thinking. hence why i said "so after i ruined that hdd..."

tibia: yeah, i finally did it. i'm wanting to get past projects completed so i can move on. lol! the led is behind the label. new pics are uploaded to the photobucket page showing the entire process. i do still have the old hdd.

pics are now of a good size. i hope to get the label reprinted this week so this can be completely finished.

I almost forgot about the handygear. Didn't you also have an atari flashback in an atari cartridge you were working on?

I'm still wondering what your project codename red mushroom is. When something is kept secret from me I really want to know, can't wait to find out what it is.
