N64 HDD?

Includes but not limited to: SNES, Genesis, Sega CD, PlayStation 1, Nintendo 64, Dreamcast, Game Gear and I guess the Virtual Boy.

.:EDIT:. is there some sort of a CD wallet thingy for N64 cartridges? seeing as there are a lot of nay-sayers here, maybe they might be right

Next time I talk to the guy, we will look at the possibilities. So far, it look's probable that he will be able to do it. Afterall, the process of converting the HDD is similar in both cases. If we do find a way we should all just pool our ROMs(of the same type), instead of all trying to do all the games by ourselves. Unfortunatly, it will take a while before we get any positive results, as he is not familiar with the N64's circuits. Infact, we might even scrap the whole CD64 idea, and work on modifying the game cartridges to allow for larger capatence and multiple games. Still not sure though. I will stay in touch.

How 'bout hardwiring a flash cart to the cart connectors, and stick a few ROMs on it. have the usb/lpt port mounted on the outside of the system, and switch games when you feel like it. maybe a mechanical switch can be pressed when a cart is inserted to redirect the '64 to the new cart, rather than the flash internals. :?:

You would still need a user-interface for selecting the games on the drive and to decode the ROMs. This means that you would still need another mobo such as the CD64, DD64, or DoctorV64. Also, you may as well just use a cheap HDD cut down, so you can have more than a few games. I was also thinking that if we can get this thing going, we should also use the GameBoy adapter to make GameBoy ROMs for the N64.

HEY EVERYBODY! NEW UPDATE!

This guy linked an HDD to his Z64's mobo. It look's like he just removed the zip drive and put an HDD in it's place. Here are some detailed instructions. See http://n64.icequake.net/ for more info.

see? it is possible.

off-topic, but does anyone have a link to a place with N64 parts? i saw a joystick from the controller for sale on eBay but can't find the link now, and i think it would be so much easier to buy the parts instead of buying a new controller every time i break a part i need

i got a N64 today, a neon green used one from GameStop for $21.74. i remember when they were $150 and the games were $60 a peice!!! some are as little as 99 cents now. my, my, my, all the money i wasted...

P.S., the N64 has the coolest games on any system period. a perfect mix of gameplay and FMV scenes (not any 45 minute intros here, but enough to make you jump while playing Res. Evil 2)
