So now all we need is to figure out how to make the Klobio Box. Do we really need the video amp?

By the way, when are we ever going to use this protocol? What are the chances of two of us with N64 portables meeting each other? :?
The Karp-Box NEEDS the video amp. Splitting the signal into 5 different spots will weaken the signal considerably. Oh yah the Karp-box will have A/V jacks so you can play 4 player and then hook it up to a bigger screen for others to watch.

Hey its a nice protocol to have and it will be really easy for portable makers to implement into there N64p.

Well, what started all this is I am building two portable N64's that will have it, so the answer is "pretty soon".

I looked into the possibility of splitting the signal into quarter quadrants via a device in the Karp/Klobio box, but nothing doing. Too expensive to be practical (as I expected). Oh well.

Eagle, I love the logo. It's perfect the way it is.

I suppose we'll call it the Klobio Box to be fair.

Okay, keeping this project moving along. I LED modded the screen with four (supposedly - I got them from eBay) 17,000mcd LEDs and some Kynar wrapping wire. It's thin stuff, but it's sufficient for the kind of current LEDs draw. I also trimmed some of the LCD's circuit board and some of the metal shielding on the N64.

I know, I know - EVERYBODY does this shot. "I got it working!" I think I'll goop something on the corners of the screen to try to cut down the serious light leakage here.

Disregard the clip-on choke on the video line - I was curious and decided to experiment to see if it was an easy way to stop my diagonal line problem. Didn't work, as expected, but oh well. Still need to fix that.

I used my trusty aviation snips to cut this metal. I currently reside in an apartment, so I try to keep use of power tools like a Dremel to a minimum.

I'm quickly learning what a pain the jumper pack is. I kept trying to turn the system on after I was done modding the screen and was like, "It's just not working! Argh!" After about three tries I noticed the jumper pack laying on the table next to the system. Durrrr! Image

Perhaps I should implement a LOB64 port in my portable... Thing is, I will likely never, ever meet anybody who has an N64p to play against.

If only there was a decently low cost way to stream the data needed over then internet... :(

They haven't even done that with N64 emulators yet, although I think Project64 was going to include that in the next release.

Yes they have. Project 64k, Project64kve, and Muper64k.

I have been doing that for like 2 years now.

Well, I'm just completely out of it, then. Wondered what the hangup was.

Anyway, not sure how to make online work with LOB64...

Easy all you would do is encode the controller data and A/V data into some kind of stream. Well maybe not easy :P

Well, yes, but you still have laggy issues. Also, you'd have to figure out how to connect it to other portables and do the matchmaking for it, etc. Big hassle, I should think.

Local multiplayer would be much easier to set up.
