Excuse me if this was already posted, but I couldn't find it anywhere on this forum.

Looks like yobo came up with something new, check this 3-in-1 system out:

Interesting. I like the idea myself.

As far as portablizing goes, there's one big issue. Unless you keep the cartridge slots pointing downward (basically putting the screen on what is now the bottom of the unit), I don't know to where you would move them. If you tried to make a gameboy-style portable, the slots would be stacked 3-deep, and the portable would approach the size of an XBox Duke. :)

One other thing to keep in mind is that this console is not a well-known entity, so it might be difficult to find pinouts, schematics, and the like.

Other than that, it looks like it would make a very versatile portable.

Yeah, we've seen it.
There have been a couple threads about it, but I don't believe anyone's actually used it in anything yet.

I saw it at the exchange for like 50$ but personally i dont like the NOAC things because of the lack of compatibility(especialy for super mario RPG) if you want to make it more power to you but it would be hard to find the pinouts and it would be pretty big. if you wanted to be useful and save space i would make the cartridge slots removable (its doable but very hard)

Well I ordered one, the compatibility seems pretty good for a clone. Check this review:

SMRPG(SNES), Sonic and Knuckles(Genesis), and paperboy(NES) work.

Castlevania 3 and Rolling thunder do not work

The FC3 uses proprietory controllers, and not good ones either. The compromise controllers are OK for genesis but look like they would suck for SNES.

I know, but a SNES controller mod should fix that.

They do look kind of funky, I agree.

I put similar controllers (minus the two extra buttons) with some of the NESes that I sold on ebay. They weren't too bad.

System received.. Pictures of its guts will follow soon. - EDIT: They are in the main post of this thread
First impressions:

VERY small!
The system is not entirely region free. Some of my PAL games don't work, others do however.
The controller is very "clicky". But no problem, as I was gonna mod SNES controllers for it anyway.
FX games work

How do the reversed buttons on the controller feel? I was testing one out at the local game store, but I hated the reversed buttons with the NES.

the snes side seems pretty small. I wonder if it can be run by just the snes board like the fc twin or retro duo.

@ Tibia, yeah the reversed buttons are annoying!
@ themadhacker, I think that's possible, the controller ports are on the SNES board, the video output is on the NES board, but I think the composite signal comes from the 3 boards seperately.

I don't understand why Yobo decided to region-lock the system :(
Anyone knows what are the best USA to PAL converters for the SNES and Genesis. I know there was a simple mod for the original SNES and Genesis, but these chips are different of course

I am VERY impressed of the (US) compatibility of this system. but UNimpressed of the lock-out chip.
