LCD DVD player screen

If you're making a portable you probably need something to watch it on. (Unless you want to guess what's happening in the game, but I wouldn't advise that) Anyway, this forum is your "Hacking a pocket TV/screen" one-stop solution. Share your experiences and knowledge here.

If it has composite in, it should work. Just make sure it isn't composite out - almost all portable DVD players have that instead.

You should be able to find pinouts online; otherwise, put up a quality picture so that people can point out where the important bits are.

Also, is that document in the top left corner of the picture a rough sketch of what you want to do with it?

And I found this information on the internet

Connections
Connector Type:
1 x composite video input/output
1 x audio input / output
1 x SPDIF output
1 x headphones
1 x DC power input

You'll need to bridge the connection to set it to "always select input." Other than that, sounds good.

Now that you have posted the larger pictures, people (who know more about this kind of thing than we do) will be able to pick them out.

How did the DVD player know whether to use video in or video out? If it was a switch or button, follow the wires. If I had to venture a guess, though, I think they'd be right next to the video ports.

has anyone even ever worked with this DVD player Screen?

Polaroid PDV 0700

it was from the battery we used so we may as well salvage a screen out of it too

mmm'kay I have a screen/portable dvd player that looks a lot like that, but to use the screen I'm %90 sure You'll have to keep the main board (I.E the main board connects the signal to digital and then sends it to the screens smaller baord you have pictured)
the pinout for video/audio have already been shown by your photos, those ports that are on the main board (video, audio, headphone etc.) will probs be the most accessible pinout. if you flip the board over there should be the solder points for each of them.

okay, i see what you're saying. so there probably isn't any way to bypass the main mobo? there's a smaller board that the speakers and screen connect to (i can snap a pic in a few), could that board be the only board the screen and speakers need?

yes you'll probs have to use the big mobo, read the board where the connector to the little board is and see if it lables what each cable is
