Company Failures That Would Piss You Off

Post by benheck » Mon Jan 26, 2009 10:23 pm

Hey, I've got a good idea for a topic. What companies, if any, would you be really upset to see go under?

They have to be ones where it's remotely possible, so no suggesting Microsoft, Google, McDonald's, Apple, Nintendo, Wal-Mart, etc.

Discuss!

Mine:

Target (Wal-Mart for yuppies but hey, the stores are clean and the aisles wide!)

Ford (Best vehicles in the world!)

Sony (Yeah the PS3 is lame IMO but everything else they have I love)

Local Ace Hardware Store (I went there twice today and was the only customer. If Farm & Fleet kills it I will be PISSED, F&F's screw selection sucks)

I've got an Ace hardware near me that I'd too be pissed about.

Google.

And before anybody knocks that as "impossible", keep in mind that youtube is still losing money, and the only project generating any real revenue for them is their ad service. If a better competitor came along with a bit of muscle and moneypower, Google is toast. Microsoft may manage to pull that off.

I agree about Target, they are awesome.

RadioShack. If they go under, a final turning place for electronics enthusiasts (Albeit expensive) would be gone forever, taking a huge swath of future modders with it. :(

Any of the big 3 American car companies, especially Ford. It would suck to have nothing but japs all over the place.

Home Depot. The service I get there is so much better than at Lowes.

Edit: not racist against japanese, just the cars :P Subaru's cool though because they know how to properly mount an engine.

I would also hate to see RadioShack die. As much as I've learned to despise them for their lack of real inventory, they also happen to be the only electronics store within a hundred mile radius of where I live. If they go away and I need a 7805 regulator within a short amount of time, I'd be screwed.

On a more personal note, I'd hate to see one of the three top automotive stores, particularly AutoZone or Advance Auto Parts, go under. I simply hate shopping at NAPA - those guys treat walk-ins like they are the lowest of the low.

If either AAP or AutoZone died, I"d have a 50/50 chance of losing my job :P

lol racist much? beyond the jobs that would be lost i wouldnt miss any of the big 3 overly much. my favorite domestic auto manufactures are all already dead (oldsmobile, studebaker, hudson etc.) and the foreign auto makers MAKE BETTER CARS.

as to companies i would miss if they went under? jones soda is one for sure
wouldnt miss radioshack as their selection is horrible and overpriced plus i worked there and they fired me for no legit reason, and it was a crap job anyway

Evans - my wife buys her shoes there; otherwise would have to pay double price at other shops to get what she likes.

Novatech - got one in fairly close proximity, handy for buying PC components and monitors, etc.

Maplins - more expensive for electronics parts but handy when you want something like wiring or a few bits and pieces.

I think he was only referring to japanese vehicles....which would also infuriate me if there were no more american cars. I drive a ford, and darn proud of it!

I'd also be upset if any of the big american aircraft companies like Lockheed and Northrop Grumman or technologies groups like Raytheon and General Dynamics were to go the way of the dodo..........Actually no. I take that back. If those companies were to fail, I'd be DEAD FRIGHTENED. Those groups are well run and government funded. If they fail, that would basically mean the US no longer exists.

Samsung. Love their hard drives.

The company I work for. It'd suck to have to suddenly find a new job.

Circuit City.

Oh, wait...

Oh, and Play 'N' Trade. I'd be depressed for forever if I heard they were going out of business.

I would hate it if ford, jeep, chevy, mercury, plymouth, or chrystler went away. That would mean thast just about the only thing left would be jappanese cars (which I hate ).

If Sony went under and died, I wouldn't mind. I think that they deserve it for helping throw sega in the grave (although sega kinda helped kill themselves too). The only sony system I really like anyway is the psx. The company never rreally appealled to me.
