Metallica Man's P-NES Projekt Work Log! 56k warning FINISHED

Post by Metallica Man X » Thu Jan 15, 2009 2:53 pm

That's right, I spelled it with a K! lol.

But seriously, I finally got a camera, so I can take some pics of my work as I make my portable!

Image
A view of a horribly messy work space...rest assured, it's clean now ;)

Image
A shot of everything hooked up to the batteries. It's still messy, I know...

Image
A close up of my LED-modded screen. Mr. Hot glue is most prevalent :)

Image
A shot of it running good ol' Megaman 3 (love that intro theme)

Image
Here's a nice top-down pic of what I'm gonna make the case look like.

as of right now, all I have left to do on the guts is to: 1.) Remove the 72-pin cart connector & 2.) get the controller hooked directly to the board.

After that, it's onto the horrors of case construction. My plan for the case is gonna be difficult....but it'll look darn good when I'm done. I'll keep y'all posted ;)

looks good. can't even tell the LED mod, even with a picture taken with a camera. I see you have been blessed with an oscilloscope as well

I have capacitors that size. They are 70000 uf, and at the moment I have no idea what I could use them for. I got them from "salveging".

Nice work station you have there. Project looks like it's on the right track. Make sure to keep us updated. If there is one thing Benheckers like more than building portables, it's looking at other people build them .

Also, jealous of the scope. I *almost* bought one when I was doing a lot of video mods, but it's the last "big" tool I never bought :(.

Yes, it is indeed enjoyable to watch, as well as create your own :)

As far as those caps go...They actually came out of an old airplane, as I too enjoy salvaging! You'd be surprised what you'd find when you go junkin'! But a coil gun gun? That sounds freaken sweet! Sounds like a good idea for a project after the cNESp! 8)

It's a tube with a metal projectile at the end, with a coil of wire a bit in front of it. When you send a big charge through it (usually with very large capacitors) the coil becomes magnetized for a spit second, and it pulls the projectile forward at a very high speed.

Search youtube for videos.

A minor update for the project. Just lopped a small chunk of the top off there, nothing too fancy. Case construction is going to begin shortly.

I wish I had more time do dedicate to the project...darn work anyway.

If you need to, you can also simply remove those four items at the top of the board if you are doing an LED mod. But if you have space, why bother?

Yeah, I was thinking about taking the whole top, but I decided to leave that small bit, as the way I'm making the case allows me to use that small area to help hold the screen in place :)
