New NOACp worklog: DONE! Video on page 6

Ever wondered what happened to this screen? Yeah, probably not but nevertheless here is where it went. I'm working on making another NOAC portable, which will hopefully be somewhat better looking than my Fugtendo (that thing was uuuugly). I just posted a new YouTube video of my current progress. Also, here are a few shots of the case-making in progress. I'm trying to build this all in my apartment, so no paint, no bondo, and no Dremel!

Voltage booster to go from 6v to ~8v. Thanks to Rekarp who showed me this TI chip. The screen has a 7805 linear regulator on it so I needed to boost the voltage just a little. The circuit's really easy - just two 100 uF capacitors and a resistor to set my desired output voltage.

looks good so far. Now, bear with me, I may be blind here, but I don't think I saw what screen that is anywhere. It looks nice, and since I'm in the process of considering to get a job, I may be able to afford all kinds of crazy stuff soon.

What I'm getting at; a link would be appreciated.

Sure thing, Kyo. I discussed it a long while back in this thread. You can usually find them on ebay by searching for a 2.5" monitor. Here, I even went and found everyone an example: ebay link. I've bought this exact screen before from "centralpointsecurity" and I recommend them because they're actually located in the US, unlike the usual Hong Kong operation. Of course, you're in Germany, aren't you Kyo?

Well, since I titled this thread as a "worklog" I guess I had better treat it as such and post my progress.

Little tact switches under the dpad, big ones under the buttons. Works well.

Purple and black look great together, in my opinion. The crud on the dpad will be cleaned off with some rubbing alcohol before final installation.

Drilling/filing that dpad hole was a pain. Luckily the two button holes to the right of it (not pictured) were WAY easier and faster.

Lots of extra space with the perf board so I can mount it nice and sturdy. I might even use standoffs instead of just hot glue to hold the controls in place. Imagine that!

If you watched the YouTube video, I mentioned that I'm using a GameCube power switch. To turn the unit on, you'll need to push this grey button down...

and it will depress into the case like this. Trust me, it will be cool.

No, I'm not leaving the perf board on the outside of the case. I was just testing the layout of the buttons. Everyone does that.

Looking great so far! Quite an undertaking to make a case without what I'm sure most would consider standard case-making tools/materials. I'm especially impressed at how neatly the screen hole turned out.
