Random 2600 six-switch question

I just found an old six-switch atari 2600, and it didn't have the power adapter. I went to radio shack to buy an adapta plug as described in Ben's book, but could only find one that does 800 mA at 9v. Is this too many volts, and will it fry the system? I don't want to fry this atari at all.

Im pretty sure thats fine. It has a 7805, so the usual range applies.
