My name is Stijn van 't Land (I'm from Holland) I'm 13 Years old, and i think i am smart enough, to start working on some console casings Etc. The only problem: I have no Experience at all. So i wanna start building my own Portable GameCube just Like Ben Heck's XBOX 360 Portable laptop, The new one. I just need a bit of instructions, and manuals, you know the drill. and Last but not least, the standard question: Is it hard? put all the Components into another Casing/laptop or whatever? And yes, don't understand me wrong but i sure am smart So i just need some Instructions on Modding and just some detailed help on how to make such things like this, cause i really want to learn all these things
Well, the gamecube has the disadvantage of a relatively high... height. Other than that, it can very well be made into a nice portable, though a laptop might be a little overkill for the system.
Well, a portable usually consists of 4 parts: The system, the screen, the controls and the case. The latter, while being the only part that doesn't really have anything to do with electronics is usually the hardest.
Everything else is pretty much straightforward, I suggest browsing the forums a little, maybe reading some worklogs.

Okay, so its not so hard at all? Well my concept is that i don't want to turn it into a portable. but just like... I want to make it easier to take my gamecube somewhere (School). So i just want a screen onto it, and a bit more flat casing, so it will look a bit like a laptop, ill be working on an Image of my idea wich will make it a bit more Easy to understand WTF im talking about
The disadvantage of the gamecube is that it has a high power consumption and needs 3 different voltages. And, of course, that it's a disk-based system.
Now if you don't want to use a battery in there, then you have the solution for one problem. But yeah, not the best portable to start with but with determination you can do it.

Well... What do you advise me to start with? Cause i really want to get into all this. despite of the fact that i don't have Ecperience.
Well, a sketch of what you want it to look like, then writing a list of the parts you need (screen, batteries, case material, etc.) as well as the tools you need (iron, dremel, multimeter, etc.) and then waiting for the parts to arrive.
A good starting point would also watching some tutorials about how to solder, and maybe learning how electronic components work (though that's actually optimal, it's just helpful when debugging)

Talk with me I made a Gamecube laptop myself, I used crappy plastic but it was so it could be bulletproof. And it is up to a 9mm(Brought it to a shooting range-The plastic only)strength
So yea talk with me I know where to get good hinges, screens(Like everyone else here)and cool plastic
yep, its dual layer lexan its used on planes so people cant break the pressure, and also on the things police hold when there is a riot.
But since I used 2 layers its even stronger!
