Xbox 360 lcd screen
Moderator:Moderators
I'm attempting to use a LCD screen from a laptop for my monitor on my xbox 360. problem is, its a 20 pin digital input, and i know there is a digital output for the xbox 360 elite. is there a way to hook up the screen to the original xbox 360? and can i suck 12v directly from the power supply? i have the inverter board too.

its not a waste of time. i'm trying to make my 360 portable for a good reason. i'm headed to iraq next year and am trying not to pack a tv or buy one there. since i have two broken laptops i thought i could just use the lcd screens from them.

He's saying using the laptop LCDs is a waste of time. It's incredibly expensive and time-consuming to get the parts needed to make it work. Even then, there's still no guarantee it would work. You'd be better off looking for a LCD screen that already has the inputs you need.
EDIT: Straight from the useable screens sticky- Why can't people read it?

These screens WILL NOT work:
You cannot use these screens so stop asking.

so i gutted my gateway laptop i fried over a year ago and saw a connector on the back besides the 20 pin DFP. it is an eight pin adapter. question is, is that for an analog signal? or is it something else?
laptop two:
gateway nx510x
15.4" samsung
model: LTN154X3-LO3
btw, i read that stick first. i thought i cought an adapter that changed the analong output of the 360 to digital. or heck, maybe i could just get an elite and do it that way?

The digital signal the LCD screen needs is not HDMI or DVI. Most of the time it isn't even the same between different laptop models. You'll need to buy or build a controller circuit for it, and by the time you've got that finished you will have spent more time and money than you would have if you bought a cheap LCD TV.
Just go get an inexpensive LCD TV or LCD monitor (an actual; monitor, not a laptop LCD) and use the DVI or VGA connection.

so i ripped apart a screen for my car's visor. it was cheap anyway. broke out the controller board, and well, it a toshiba screen. my lcd is samsung, so i doubt they speak the same language. however they both have 30 pins. i'm thinking that maybe with proper pin outs i can use it.

wow, i didnt think that everybody that get alittle resistance just would give up. well, i'm pushing through with it and looking into the pinouts for both the screen and the controller. i dont take impossible as an answer. maybe improbable, and expensive. but i like to find workarounds. if i make it work, i'll let you know. the reason i'm breaking so many things is because i dont have the cash for another monitor or a controller board. i like to use what i already have available. i'm kinda in the middle of making my own 360 laptop. i just need a screen and case for the screen. i raped a broken dvd/5.1 stereo system case for the bottom.

How about "impractical"? Do you take that as an answer?
By the time you rip tons of crap apart you'll have spent more time and money than you would have if you had listened to us and gotten a screen that will work in the first place.
