plastic fillers

Post by themadhacker »

For my nesp, I will need a good filler for my case. But which is best? Most people use bondo or epoxy, but then there are a few who ABS cement. Which is the most inexpensive and sturdy filler? Also, what liquid do I need for ABS cement?

Abs cement should NOT be used as filler. It should only be used to permanently bond two pieces of plastic together.

Then the best thing for filler is a plastic epoxy.

Bondo can and will eventually crack. Plastic epoxy gets hard as rock but can flex without breaking.

Here's what I use :

wait, what?

I'm using the ABS cement as a filler and seems to be working great. hailrazer, could you explain what makes it bad? :(

I figured because it bonded plastic so well, and then pretty much turned into plastic once it dried, that it would be fine. It sands well too.

Abs cement will leave pinholes after the acetone dries out of it.

It will also shrink and it takes 2-3 weeks to do this. So epoxy or flexible bumper filler is a must to avoid these problems.

well, I guess I'll have to wait it out and make the best of it. Too late to change now.
