Hey just some questions

Post by deadbolt742 » Thu Mar 10, 2005 7:15 pm

Hey guys im new here and stuff so just wanted to know some questions. I was planning on buying the book to make a nintendo or snes portable since thinking that was one of the easiest things to make, if not does anyone know whats easiest to make? Does the book tell you how to do this all and explain some of the things cuase I dont really know too much about the insides of a console, took some apart but didnt like modify them or anything. Will it cost a lot of money to do this or something around under 100 dollars? I have most of the tools to make some of this stuff I believe.

well the book is $20, that leaves you 80 for everything else
so i think you do some rudimenary math youll see there is no way that is possible

as for a lot of your other questions, youd probably have to get the book and find out for yourself. hey, even if you dont end up building anything im sure it would be an interesting read (assuming you are a gamer, which you seem to be)

Well subtract the book not counting that in and I have a nintendo and a snes so would that still be very hard to do under that budget and im not going to buy the cases somehow manage to build my own.

well owning consoles you can hack apart is definitely a chunk of it, but....

after looking at a lot of similar 'question' threads ill just give you the answer i see given elsewhere, by senior members of this site

BUY THE BOOK AND FIND OUT!

The thing is I didnt want to buy the book and find out something I really didnt want to know and just was wondering if i didnt have to pay like a crazy amount to build something thats like not worth it.

Ok first is which is the easiest system? Its the SNES you do far less modding to it and it takes a direct 7.2v input from the batteries.
Now for the cost of making the SNES with handmade case its going to be about $150 give or take.

Reason behind the SNES being so much is more on the screen Ben used (PSone) you can choose a different case to make and use the Hip Gear Screens that are only $20-30 each.

Do I need one of those new ones or can I just use the older model of a SNES?

You can use the older SNES but it wont be as small thats the only draw back, well that and that Ben's cases wont work with the older SNES. So if your going to make your own case go for it.

I would think that the components would be arranged so differently the book could not be used :?
