I think he's looking at the online preview, which would probably be the same thing.

im pretty sure he uses acrylic (the plastic) and he cuts it with a CNC laser cutter... i dont know if you have access to that or not but if not a water cutter shud do the same

The cnc stuff uses laser engravers and cnc machinery, and the handbuilt stuff uses what jack said.

quoting myself... lol... do u think a watercutter would do the same thing? i dont know where i could find CNC machinery and there's a water cutter at my dads work so i thought that would be the easiest way...

and if you cant do either of these, i suggest a vacuum form table... not too hard to make or use and the results can be pretty good if you know what youre doing
but it looks completely different compared to the design with layers of laser cut plexiglass like ben does... it all depends on what you want it to look like

you just bend them into the right shape? Isn't that hard? How do they stay in place? Are they screwed together???

I'm a nooB still and have ordered the book. But whats wrong with using the kit Ben offers.

Here's my reasoning  1st you make one according to the book and using the kit. Now that you have a tangible, playable example in your hands and have seen how things work, start experimenting with your own designs.

Makes sense to me. :D

I'd love the CnC portable SNES (vertical model), thats sweet (and looks quite small), but the cartridge port would go on top, and I don't have the money to buy everything I'd need for that anyway
