I do wonder why this forum isn't on such a package - £5 a month, unlimited bandwidth and unlimited webspace?? Provides the PHPbb forum too.
UNLIMITED IS NOT POSSIBLE.
bacteria wrote:Looked on my webhost, the 9000 hits have generated 64Gb bandwidth in 3 days! :o Good thing I got unlimited bandwidth, or I would have used my monthly allocation in the first 24 hours!! :o

In Case Construction on this forum, put in a thread for my case within a case :D
That can't be right either... 9000 hits doesn't equal out to be 64 gigs of bandwidth.
Things I need to purchase for my NES Laptop:
1X PSone screen
6X 1.2v 3500mAh sub-C's
1X 1/8'' to RCA stereo Adapater
1X Radioshack repair kit

64 gigs is roughly 68719476736 bytes.

68719476736/9000=7635497.4151111111111111111111111 (and so on) bytes per person, or 7.2817777777777777777777777777778 MB a person.

7 Megs is a LOT for each visitor... that would be almost every one viewing the every page... but then there would be even more hits technically (Unless he only counted Unique hits)...

Sounds like his numbers might be a little messed up...

well if there are at least 50 pictures on the nintendo 64 page and they are like 300 kb each, it is very possible, but as you said not likely everyone to do that.

It is very possible - the pics in the N64 how-to guide alone are over 55Mb, plus the text and the other sections. I got the figure from a screendump at the time off HostPapa (my site provider):

Image

As you see, about 64Gb!

This is the current state, as of a few minutes ago, after 10500 hits, 77Gb (in about a week).

Yes, it is unlimited - as advertised:

Uploaded another video - playing Pokemon Puzzle League on the N64 on the system.

BTW, will add an Atari Flashback to the list of systems I will implement - got it yesterday for £5 at a car boot sale!

Ok-- I'll try to keep this as calm as possible...

Unlimited bandwidth is like saying my battery has unlimited amperage... it just doesn't work like that.. bandwidth is bottle necked by many things.. your host might say unlimited, but once you start to use enough bandwidth they will kick you out...

These sorts of hosts are called 'over seller hosting services', they sell moore than they have with the intention that the people that own the accounts won't use close to what they can handle.

Try having your server upload 1TB (byte, not bit) a second... it will NOT perform at that sort of speed.

(Its also like saying my processor takes 0 ns/super small type of time to compute pi...)

I agree that unlimited bandwich isn't physically possible, but I think he meant unlimited "data transfer". The maximum amount of data being "trasferred" in a month would then be set by the bandwich maximum rate. (<BANDWICH> GB/s * 2592000s/month = <MAX_DATA> GB/month)

That's the way I see it!

Its effectively unlimited. He won't be charged more if it exceeds x amount per month, which is all that matters (it'll just get overloaded if too many people try to access it at once). Its not like he is trying to run the whole internet off his server.

Not the place to talk about your website/hosting.

I just searched "nintendo 64 rumble pack mod' on google and your site came up at number 8 on the first page. Just thought I'd let you know.

Interesting. I know when I have done searches for things in the past on Google, if there is a relevant topic off the BenHeck site it seems to get to the top of the list; this is great for Ben as it means he gets more site hits from people Googling. Good news, can only help to attract new members here.
