NO WAI!!

I'm bored, so I dare someone to make a portable virtual boy. Just imagine the awesomeness of that in a handheld.

On the plus side, it may not make you go blind from eye-strain if it wasn't on your face :D

I think it has to be right in your eyes to work.

Heck, if you have one, just remove the screens, put them on eyeglass frames, extend all the cables for the rest, and put it in a canteen bag on your belt, along with the battery. Voila! Portable Virtual Boy.

Otherwise, maybe omit a screen, and (ugh) make it into a GameBoy style portable. That'd make for some ugly playing. :D

Isn't the Virtual Boy already portable? (As in: It works with batteries, and you don't need a TV)

I don't think so. It'd be interesting to see if it could be done. However, this was the Nintendo handheld I skipped. And perhaps fortunately.

Oh yeah, sure. I'm going to spend money and waste time turning a worthless console into a portable because someone on the internets dared me too [/sarcasm]

Did you really expect to accomplish anything with this thread, or do you just like the sound of your own keystrokes?

You know, people already wear ridiculous things on their heads (I'm speaking of Bluetooth headsets). This would be an oversized helmet. Not bad, really.

I've wanted to do this for quite some time.

I may someday.

It sorta has to be on your eyes so it shows the 3D effect

And it is already portable, it was powered by AA batteries and could be played on the move if you didn't mind not being able to see. But at least you didn't have to see how stupid you looked wearing the headset.

Still want one for the collection though

It was not portable, it tried to be portable, and failed.

You can't use it in a car, or really anywhere that isn't a dimly lit room with somewhere to stick the stand for that monstrosity.

Making it portable would involve fixing these problems, and I do recall that someone has done it, don't feel like looking it up right now, maybe later.

Bluetooth headsets don't cover your eyes. I really don't see how you could make the virtual boy any more portable.

Dude...that's like taking a dump on a dead skunk. It stinks either way.

That analogy implies that by making something portable, you make it worse

Shouldn't it be like "That's like washing a dead skunk" or something?
